Alexander Stepanov is a contemporary Russian artist who has specialized in sculpture for over 20 years. His extensive body of work includes city monuments crafted from bronze and marble, as well as numerous concrete art objects.
Stepanov's work reflects his quest to understand the world by delving into its details, drawing on knowledge from ancient myths to contemporary news, and transforming these insights through his observations. He enjoys creating images and stories that blur the line between reality and imagination, often experimenting with different styles, techniques, and materials. While he embraces various artistic approaches, he acknowledges that moments of self-indulgence occasionally influence his work.
Since 2000, Stepanov has been professionally engaged in sculpture, participating in competitions for monument production. His first city monument was erected in 2002, followed by several others, earning him gratitude from governors. He has also produced a wide range of private art objects of varying types and sizes. Until 2022, Stepanov worked primarily on commissions and did not collaborate with galleries or participate in exhibitions.
