About the author 1s5u5j
Brigitte Conan, known by her artistic alias Steva, is a contemporary painter based in whose work is characterized by its exploration of poetic and colorful universes. From a young age, Brigitte demonstrated a ion for creativity, starting her artistic journey with gouache at the age of 11 before later transitioning to oil paint. Currently, she primarily expresses herself through acrylic, relishing in the freedom it provides for experimentation, including the incorporation of collages. Brigitte's preference for small and medium formats, with a maximum size of 100x100 cm, allows her to create intimate and immersive experiences for viewers.
In addition to painting, Brigitte also explores papier-mâché sculptures and mobiles, further expanding her artistic repertoire. Her favorite themes, including improbable architecture, nature, and music, often evoke a sense of nostalgia and childhood wonder.
Inspired by a diverse range of artists such as Van Gogh, Dali, Rosa Bonheur, and the Surrealists, Brigitte draws upon their influence to infuse her work with depth and creativity. The twisted constructions of Gaudi's architecture also serve as a wellspring of inspiration for her imaginative creations.
During the lockdown of 2019, Brigitte invented the character of the "fish" – small hybrid beings blending the features of fish and birds, always depicted with benevolent intent. These creatures became a recurring motif in her paintings, culminating in the publication of a book/photos at her own expense.
In 2019 and 2020, Brigitte's affection for the historic city of Dinan led her to take over the management of a studio/gallery on the famous rue du Jerzual during the summer season. She plans to return to Dinan in 2023 for a new season, albeit in a different area of the city. In the meantime, her work is being exhibited at the Vauxhall in Vaux-Sur-Sûre, Belgium, in October 2022, following an invitation from an art teacher. Brigitte Conan's artistic journey continues to evolve, enchanting audiences with her imaginative visions and heartfelt creations.
