My work is very driven by emotion, and sometimes specific instances in my life make their way onto the canvas. I chose colors near gold and sand tones to rebuild the world that I lived in during my first long-term relationship, and to rebuild that world from my memory I needed to fully revisit that time in my life. The gold tones serve to represent having anything I could ask for, as far as possessions. The disembodied face is encased in a box that thereg,,,,,,, seems to stare out in the distance, representative of myself at that time, surrounded by things but disinterested in them, longing for the freedom to live a life outside of someonne elses control. ./k= Now, looking back on a memory like the one depicted in this painting, I'm grateful for what that time in my life taught me, and for the fact that I have entered a time where I can turn it into something easy on the eyes
