Patrycja Walton is a Montreal based artist, born in Ontario’s Scottish / Irish farm country. Her work includes sculpture, painting and mixed media. In 1976, she completed a diploma in Craft and Design, studying under Katharine Ylitalo and Richard Gill. In 1979, she received a Visual Arts diploma with a major in Textile Arts, at Alberta College of Art and Design (Calgary, Alberta), studying under Katharine Dickerson, Jane Kidd, Wendy Toogood, and Alexandra Haeseker. In 1981, Walton worked as Animateur of Arts and Culture in northern Saskatchewan for the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils. In 1983 she attended Emma Lake Art School studying under textile artist Ann Newdigate Mills.She moved to Montreal in 19886. Here Walton studied at the L’Institut Simone de Beauvoir, Concordia University and Centre des Arts Visuels in Montreal. In 2002, she studied abstraction under the tutelage of Montreal artist Marie-Claude Bouthillier, and in 2007 Walton attended l’École d’été Internationale de Percé (University of Laval), under the tutelage of Alexandre David. Walton is a founding member of the annual 4 day/ 3 building open studio event La virée des ateliers.
Walton has exhibited widely and works can be found in both private and public collections in Canada, USA, and Switzerland. Walton lives and works in Montreal.
