This captivating artwork features a haunting and ethereal portrait emerging from a rich, textured canvas awash in deep blues and purples. The central figure, shrouded in mystery, is partially obscured, evoking a sense of enigma and allure. Subtle gradations of color blend seamlessly, creating a swirling effect that suggests movement and depth. The artist masterfully uses light and shadow to draw attention to the subject's haunting gaze, which invites introspection. The interplay of warm and cool tones adds intensity and emotional complexity to the piece, highlighting the duality of presence and absence. This work challenges the viewer to explore beyond the visible, invoking a deep sense of curiosity and contemplation. Its abstract quality, combined with the evocative color palette, makes it a striking and memorable piece that captures the imagination.

Robert van Bolderick is a contemporary Swedish artist. He uses layers of impasto paint to produce paintings that are renowned for their texture and sculptural presence. His bold color choices and extensive color palette, which he used on a linen canvas, result in an arresting piece of mixed media art that keeps the viewer entranced for an extended period of time.

He is focused mostly on mixed media, combining acrylic, oil and tempera with the praxis of collage. This unique combination gives life to his art by expressing dreamlike and vibrant scenarios. Rhythm, pattern and balance are important, while images and text fragments are prominent but do not give the viewer all the information. His art captures the essence of dreams and memories which are fragmented and provide only a glimpse of what happened.

Robert van Bolderick was born in 1968, in Stockholm, Sweden, where he graduated from the Stockholm Municipal Art School. He exhibited his works nationally, as well as internationally, in the USA, UK, Spain and Macedonia.
