Many layers: it begins with a sketch of a snake plant that is eclipsed by “Breakfast; chia seeds, oats, walnuts, almonds, lein seeds, raisins, frozen blue berries” in black marker, something I have eaten for so long every morning that I don’t what came before, the order is the order in which I add them to the bowl. Next these words have an outline added in red which expands into the surrounding space. Followed by block letters that spell the meal time, finally muted green is painted into the negative space and between the letters.

Simon Findlay is a contemporary artist based in Berlin, , since 2016. His work explores a deeply personal relationship with color through durational and experimental visual expression. He has also engaged in performances such as ripping and restapling canvases, throwing paint inside a transparent cube while accompanied by musicians, and a memorable piece where he stood on top of a washing machine to throw bottles of paint at the ground.
